Abstract :
This paper is devoted to design and evaluation of cognitive routing metrics for heterogeneous ad hoc networks. Several link-associated factors are taken into account in the routing metric design, which allows adaptive weights based on these factors for load balancing purpose. The performance of the proposed routing metrics are examined and compared with the performance of the conventional shortest path routing metric. The result shows that the proposed cognitive routing metrics are able to improve both spatial and time balance of traffic distribution in the system.
