Abstract
The presence of random steering vector errors degrades severely the performance of adaptive beamforming, and results in adapted beam patterns with high sidelobes and distorted mainbeams. The penalty function is exploited to prevent signal cancellation and remedy beam distortion due to steering vector errors. Computer simulation results are presented for illustration.
