Abstract :
In this paper we are presenting an alternative approach to designing of the digital switchbox block which can be used as a part of programmable digital device. The new architecture of the switchbox is compared with the standard implementation obtained using Cadence tools for logic synthesis. Introductory section of this paper briefly presents motivations for developing this topic. In section II results of standard automated approach are presented. In section III one can find discussion on alternative multiplexer structures and their operation. Section IV presents design of a full-custom multiplexer and its further modification. Layout development strategies and limitations are presented in section V. Comparison of possible structures and final conclusions are shown in section VI.
