Abstract
In this paper, a novel resonant quadrifilar helical antenna for satellite communication application is presented. The antenna behaves wide beamwidth, circular polarization and high gain. Numerical simulations show that the two short arms are main factors which influence the gain of this kind of antenna. The model antenna designed working at center frequency of 1.995 GHz and 2.185 GHz characterizes: 1) about 180 degrees of 3dB beamwidth in 1.995 GHz and about 95 degrees of 3dB beamwidth in 2.185 GHz, 2) VSWR under 2 : 1 covering 1980-2010 MHz and 2170-2200 MHz. 3) Axial Patio of center frequency is lesser than 3dB. Details of the antenna design along with simulated results are presented and discussed.
