  • Abstract
The authors focus on two applications of the new materials which are particularly relevant to biomagnetism in medicine and these are superconducting electromagnetic shields and superconducting pick-up coils for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). First, it is important to understand how the materials and devices which are the subject of discussion, are made and what effect the key properties, in particular the flux noise, have on the performance. These property investigations can often dictate which superconducting material offers a performance advantage
