Abstract :
The electrophysical properties of nematic liquid crystals under stationary and microwave electric fields was investigated in this paper. It was shown that substantial changes in electrodynamic properties of liquid crystal (LC) depending upon controlling parameters at low frequencies. Studies of such effects at microwave frequencies are of great interest and require further studies. The proposed approach can be also generalized to LC systems of other types, in particular, ferroelectric LC (chiral smectics-C), as well as LC with dispersed micro- and nanoparticles (carbon nanotubes, crystal ferroelectrics, magnetics, etc.).
