Abstract
This work investigates the versatility and tunability of an electrically small implantable antenna. The radiator shows dual band capability working in both the Medical Device Radiocommunication Service (MedRadio, 401-406 MHz) and the Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM, 2.4-2.5 GHz) bands while inserted in a homogenous body phantom. A further miniaturized antenna (10 × 8.8 × 20 [mm]) with sufficient radiation efficiencies for a 2 m working range is also presented confirming the useful conception of the design.
