Abstract :
The paper presents a new kind of probe system for measuring transmission and playback quality of online videos from the edge of the network. The system mainly consists of a management platform planted on the cloud monitoring platform and several probes deployed in our campus network. The probes are designed to collect measured video-performance data and then transfer to the platform to store. Much attention are paid to the quality and characteristics of the HTTP stream and also the effects caused by the web pages and other contents by this system, which is superior to traditional tools. Besides that, the probes can be deployed very fast and automatically in a large-scare network based on the advantage of our cloud platform.
