  • Abstract
Setting up a voice session based on users´ preference is a fundamental requirement in future multi-mode heterogeneous wireless network. In the past, a smart session selection (S3) scheme is presented to meet this requirement. S3 abstracts the voice session selection between users as a multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) problem, and copes with the problem by using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to select a best network connection that satisfy quality constraint and users´ preference. However, AHP is inherently difficult to express user´s preference due to its restriction in preference weighting. This study overcomes the vagueness in the preferences of AHP by using Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) to recommend a network connection with assistance of user profile and IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) signaling. An example is illustrated to show that FAHP can successfully select a good network connection that fulfills the requirement of users.
