Abstract :
Wavelet transformation, especially discrete wavelet transformation (DWT) is an important problem for many applications. This paper describes a parallel implementation of Daubechies wavelet transformation, with four filter coefficients. Both the theoretical and experimental analysis of parallel implementation in a cluster environment are also described. Implementation is based on linear array architecture and for experimental results a simple cluster computer is used. The programming language used is C++ with LAM MPI paradigm. The results show the impact of computation and communication on the parallel implementation. A comparison of parallel and sequential implementations of the algorithm is presented.
