Abstract :
Summary form only given. The competitiveness of SMEs in China is still weak at present and how to strengthen competitiveness of SMEs is unclear and under. debate. The paper discusses how to improve competitiveness of SMEs in China. Research results indicate that it is an important matter to improve competitiveness of SMEs by means of R&D, technology acquisition and manufacturing ability. Our findings also show that severe deficiency still exists in technology cooperation, marketing, personnel and policy. So some methods should be adopted to resolve these problems. Firstly, SMEs should reinforce technology cooperation so as to remedy the insufficiency of capital and technology. Secondly, SMEs should choose a feasible marketing strategy and constitute a proper product distribution channel by degrees. Thirdly, SMEs should make great efforts to settle the problem of talent absence and break through restrictions of the talent bottleneck. Finally, the government should enhance the support to SMEs. The loose policy conditions and flexible industry technology structure can promote SMEs´ innovation efficiency
