Abstract
The motor performances such as torque characteristics or iron loss are strongly affected by the magnetic properties of electrical steel sheet used. It is found recently that, even in the non-oriented electrical steel sheets, the magnetic characteristics are dependent on the direction of the applied magnetic field, i.e., the non-oriented electrical steel sheet has two-dimensional (2D) magnetic properties. In this paper, the extended B-H curve method is utilized to take account of 2D magnetic properties of non-oriented electrical steel sheet employed in motors, and the influences of 2D magnetic properties on motor performances are investigated by non-linear finite element analysis combined with the extended B-H curve method.
