Abstract
The design of energy-efficient electrical machines requires the accurate estimation of iron loss. There are minor hysteresis loops in the case in which a flux density waveform includes higher harmonics, and it is possible that the conventional iron loss calculation methods do not accurately estimate minor-loop loss. Therefore, iron loss of the hysteresis loop with minor loops estimated using a conventional iron loss calculation method could differ from measurements. This paper investigates a method of calculating iron loss based on the dc-biased magnetic properties.
