Abstract
A fast Doppler rate estimation method based on fourth-order moment spectrum is presented. Without simultaneously estimating time delay, Doppler shift and Doppler rate, which is often time consuming, this method directly estimates the Doppler rate through maximisation the spectrum of the ratio of fourth-order moments between the echo and source signals. Detailed computational implementation is given and the parameter is optimised via theoretical derivation. Computer simulations show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
