Abstract
Wireless communications are continuously growing and the aim of reducing its energy consumption has recently become a research key point. This paper aims to analyze the influence of the configuration of a 802.11g device and its energy consumption. Five operational parameters are analyzed: two related to the network connection (bandwidth and datagram size), the device driver, Power Save Mode (PSM), and signal strength. By analyzing the energy saving values, we show the influence of each operational parameter on the energy consumption value. results show that a correct device configuration can save up to 83% in terms of energy consumption.
