Abstract :
This article considers the minimization of an objective function containing a quadratic form of the derivative of the measured output in a Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) problem. This approach could be employed to any plant where smoothening of the transient response is critical. This is the case, for example, in fast performance electronic devices, vibration reduction of flexible structures and lightly damped systems.
