Abstract
Digital I/O performance is now a headline specification in practically any high-performance electronic system, from consumer products to enterprise servers. Any future progress in integrated circuit computational capability must naturally be matched with progress on digital I/O. As a result, recent research has led to tremendous progress in the data rates communicated over individual chip-to-chip links.
