  • Abstract
One of the top-ten system applications and technological trends in power electronics today is that powerconversion technology is going adiabatic [1], [2]. Adiabatic means "occurring without loss or gain of heat." It is a borrowed term from thermal dynamics that describes a technology that ensures such an ultrahigh efficiency that the power converter produces virtually no heat when processing power. This trend is spurred by the need for high-performance space payload and bus designs [3], handheld and computing devices for information and computing technologies (ICT) [4], [5], and grid electronictization [6]-[8].
