Abstract :
The paper presents a model of a lightweight, self-supporting antenna with radiation pattern exclusively designed for the IFF system employed in airborne radar. The antenna utilizes aperture coupled rectangular patches as a sub-array element. The array antenna is realized to operate in a frequency bandwidth BW>6% with a VSWR below 1.5.
