Abstract :
The paper describes a forward link multi carrier packet scheduler method for a high-speed packet data communication system. A proportional fairness method has been proposed to realize high data throughput. The paper proposes a modification to the proportional fairness method to add multi carrier capability for the improvement of data throughput. It is assumed that an access terminal is capable of measuring carriers simultaneously, and the procedures for choosing the target access terminal and computing an average transmission rate, R, are modified. The performance of the proposed method, in terms of throughput improvement, is evaluated by computer simulations. It is proved that the proposed method has the expected effect.
