Abstract
This work consists on the application of the uniform theory of diffraction of Kouyoumjian-Pathak to the specific problem of an vertical short electric dipole coincident with the axis of a cylindrical, finite, perfectly conducting shield. The results are presented in the form of radiation patterns. They are mainly analyzed in the transition regions of shadow and reflection boundaries and compared with those obtained by the integral equation method and by the Keller´s theory, both already known. For different sizes of the structure we could determine how better each theory works. Some comments concerning with the validity and restrictions of UTD are also presented.
