Abstract
In this paper, we present our experiences with the use of computer simulation in teaching an introductory communications course to the students that do not have communications as a major. The overview of the different types of computer-based lab exercises is given and their good and bad sides are pointed out. Then we describe one simulation that we developed t o replace the old hardware setup. At the end, we discuss the idea of using simulations in teaching this course having in mind not only its specific features, but also financial aspects and the student´s reactions as well.
