  • Abstract
People are concerned about the dangers that can be possibly produced by electromagnetic (EM) radiation of devices in our daily life. This concern stipulated a lot of research aimed at finding these hazards. This study is aimed to analyze electrical parameters of various parts of man, which determine the level of hazards. By using curve-fitting methods with the collected experimental data of various human tissues, smooth curves for dielectric constant, loss factor, and conductivity are obtained in terms of RF frequencies. A new parametric model was developed to describe the variation of dielectric properties originally developed for vegetation, is simulated and compared with the experimental results and Schwan´s equations. Then the similarities and differences between these approaches are discussed. Some conclusions are obtained in terms of measurable biophysical parameters.
