Abstract :
Oscillometry is the most widely used method to determine blood pressure due to its simplicity. The method requires an inflatable cuff and a pressure sensor. The cuff is generally placed around an arm so that it occludes the brachial artery. The pressure sensor measures the pressure inside the cuff during an inflation or deflation. The goal of oscillometry is to observe the oscillations during the cuff inflation or deflation. The oscillations occur at every heart beat or physical movement of the patient. The oscillations measured in this way are used in algorithms to compute the blood pressure. The paper focuses on the visualization and simulation of these oscillometric waveforms obtained by different cuff deflations.
