Installation of the satellite system for data transmission on the sailing-vessel

This paper deals with installation of the satellite system for data transmission in the sailing-vessel for the use of data-Internet communications. It is to be noted that this installation was done by company "ING servis" from Zagreb in the year 2003, and was the first one for commercial purpose within Croatian domicile area. For the installation, satellite system TracNet 2.0 produced by KVH Industries, Inc. (USA) has been used. Satellite communications for data transmission (Internet) within TracNet 2.0 has been divided in two parts: system Globalstar for the up-link within basic configuration and geostationary system EUTELSAT for down-link (VSAT terminals) as a high-speed accessory. From satellite antenna for downlink communications, there is a possibility to watch television and radio program in parallel. Equipment on the sailing-vessel has gyrocompass unit for stable use of the satellite antennas, control unit, universal power supply unit etc.
