Abstract
The main features of the system design and software development methodology currently being used in the TROPICO RA switching system development are described. The methodology´s original concepts are introduced together with the functional process specification language used. The system development life cycle is described as well some detailed aspects of the software development. The information model, which tightly links the system design to the physical design, is presented. The key role of the CHILL language is highlighted. Finally, the integrated software development environment is described.
