Abstract :
This paper presents the concept of social knowledge in multi-agent systems. Basic classification of the various types of social knowledge is provided and different mechanisms for social knowledge maintenance are presented. An inseparable part of this contribution is an analysis of the different classes of industrial applications with respect to different role of social knowledge in either of these.
