Abstract
In late 1989 the Government of Canada contracted with Thompson-Foss Inc. to implement integrity controls into Trusted Tunis. This paper discusses the Thompson-Foss implementation of Process Execution Controls. In an attempt to better understand the mechanism as well as examine its usefulness as an integrity control the Canadian System Security Centre contracted with Thompson-Foss Incorporated to implement PECs. This paper is an account of the implementation, how well PECs can be implemented on a UNIX-like operating system kernel extensions required to more fully implement PECs, and extensions to Process Execution Controls.
