Abstract :
Power factor preregulators in high line frequency applications such as avionics power systems call for wide-bandwidth input current shaping to achieve low harmonic distortion. A variable frequency digital predictive control method that can achieve current tracking in just one switching cycle is proposed for a boost power factor correction (PFC) rectifier. In this method, the transistor on-time is kept constant and the transistor off-time is predicted for each switching interval. The paper focuses on the practical implementation of the controller using a digital signal processor (DSP). Experimental results show fast current tracking and a total harmonic distortion (THD) of less than 3% at 800 Hz line frequency
