Abstract :
Though there have been renewed interests in fuzzy logic implementation in a power system, the dependence of fuzzy logic on expert experience and a prior knowledge had severely limited the popularity of it in the power industry. This paper proposes systematic method to design a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) without the need for a prior knowledge of the system operation. The systematic method involves the formulation of the rule base with an analytical formula based on the reduction of a performance index. It is applied on a FLC with the aim to track the speed deviation to zero. Results obtained have indicated that the designed FLC is successful in stabilizing the system for a large number and wide range of contingencies displaying good and robust performance.
