Abstract :
A compact octaband printed antenna for mobile handsets is presented in this letter. The proposed antenna only occupies a small area of 15×28.3 mm2 on a printed circuit board (PCB) with 0.8 mm thickness. The compact antenna consists of a driven branch connected with a tuning pad and a ground branch, which are printed on the top layer and the bottom layer of a PCB, respectively. A prototype has been fabricated and measured. Two wide bands over 775-972 and 1699-2929 MHz are obtained, within which the measured reflection coefficient is better than -6 dB. Good radiation characteristics are achieved over the two bands for the proposed antenna.
