Abstract
An approach based on the concept of pencils of n-matrices for the fault analysis of analog networks containing linear active and passive elements is given. Starting from pencils of n-matrices in case of single measurements, a purely algebraic necessary and sufficient condition is obtained in terms of banded block-Toeplitz matrices which have topological information. It is also indicated how this approach can be generalized to multiple measurement sets.
