  • Abstract
    The evolution of CD/DVD optical storage media is presented in this paper. DVD-video content encoding limitations of maximum bit-rate and the need to fit all the video data with maximal quality on a fixed-size disc, are pointed out. Finally, we give a quantitative look at MPEG-2 error sensitivity to data loss and video statistics in DVD content encoding process.
