Establishing communications needs for the urban traffic and public transport integrated system in Bucharest

The paper presents communications studies and solutions for an integrated urban traffic/public transport management system, with aspects for the particular situations in Bucharest. Fixed communications architectures along with modern technologies are analysed in the context of the city´s possibilities, including GPRS and TETRA solutions. The integrated urban traffic/public transport management system comprises around 100 centralised intersections and over 300 buses, trolleybuses and trams. Specific communications needs are also analysed with quantitative/qualitative criteria.
