Abstract
An efficient method for the optimization of multiband terminal antennas has been developed, and tested on a tree band antenna covering the GSM, DCS and UMTS bands. The method is based on genetic algorithms, refined with a procedure based on decision trees which allows preserving links between variables in the search domain. The electromagnetic simulation tool used in this procedure is a dedicated tool based on the resolution of a mixed potential integral equation with the method of moment. Full 3-D conductors and dielectrics can be considered, which is very important for the simulation of miniature terminal antennas, as their geometry is usually intricate
