Abstract
The inverse radiation equation determines the excitation currents of arbitrary arrays from radiation in discrete directions. This equation is used as a basis for the procedure of synthesizing discrete arrays with required sidelobe levels. As the positions of the sidelobe peaks are not known in advance, the procedure is iterative. The procedure is successfully applied to linear and to smaller pencil-beam planar arrays. Three PC programs were developed applying this method, and together form the DIANA program, package.
