  • Abstract
Two methods for the synthesis of multilayered optical fibers with low dispersion over a wide spectral range are presented. Taking into account the dispersion values at three different wavelengths, the authors developed an optimization algorithm based on the Powell´s multivariable optimization technique. The second approach utilizes Newton´s method for solving a system of nonlinear equations. It presents an opportunity to achieve the desired values of the Petermann mode spot-size, as well as dispersion at specified wavelengths. Spectral plots of synthesized double-clad, triple-clad, and quadruple-clad fibers are given.
