Abstract :
An educational project entitled ´Automatic Factory´ was introduced by IRFOP (Regional Institute for Professional Education). The goal of the project was the specialization of the technical personnel for specific factories. One part of the project was oriented toward the development of a didactic computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) model. This is based on several PC-based workstations representing typical computer supported departments of a simulated factory. All workstations are connected in a simple network. The model includes a robot and an automatically guided vehicle, (AGV), both made by students.
