Abstract
The performance of coded and uncoded time-division multiple-access (TDMA) and code-division multiple-access (CDMA) in microcellular radio channels, characterized by multipath fading, is analyzed. Two microcellular layouts, one-dimensional and two-dimensional, are considered. Basic formulas necessary for the performance calculation are given. The two multiple-access techniques are compared with respect to the radio capacity and immunity to multipath fading. Illustrative examples and numerical results are presented.
