Abstract :
The paper deals with a control design for retarded time delay systems using a predictor state model, and based on the pole placement approach. The objective is to design a functional state feedback controller providing the control system with n poles located in prescribed positions by means of a gradient based parameter adjustment. To predict the state variables in the functional state feedback the Smith predictor based control scheme is applied. The application of the proposed design method is demonstrated on controller design for a laboratory heat transfer plant described as a time delay system
