  • Abstract
The goal of this research is an improvement in the starting characteristics of a compressor induction motor drive. The analyzed motor is to be built for compressor applications, therefore, the standard starting procedure using star-delta windings is inappropriate. Special part winding was designed to reduce the surge currents when starting. The designing process is based on transient numerical analysis, couple with the equations of motion. The acceleration torque, position and rotation speed of the rotor are recalculated at every time step. This way estimation of the newly purposed winding scheme and overall motor´s design is realizable, based only on the simulation results
