Abstract
A common synchronization approach used in telecommunication networks is clock adjustment via a synchronous digital hierarchy. In packet based networks this is however not always feasible and differences in local clock frequencies, clock skew, needs to be handled by proper signal processing. This paper proposes a clock skew compensation algorithm that effectively changes the number of samples in the receiver´s play-out buffer, dependent on estimated clock skew, thereby avoiding systematic over/under-runs of the buffer
