  • Abstract
The author presents results of laboratory tests carried out on the electric strength at 50 Hz of air polluted by industrial dust at different values of air humidity. The results clearly indicate that the importance of the influence of industrial dust on the electric strength of aerial gaps has been underestimated. It is necessary to initiate further research on this problem, especially as far as bigger spark gaps are concerned. The relation between the electric strength of the air and the degree of its humidity is shown to change in an atmosphere polluted by industrial dust.
