  • Abstract
    The authors give an observer-based control that guarantees stability and a uniform H/sub infinity / norm bound. The approach is based on the use of discrete algebraic Riccati equations (DAREs) and provides both upper and lower bounds on the H/sub infinity / norm of the resulting closed-loop system. This approach relies on the solution of the state feedback problem, and introduces a novel generalized algebraic Riccati equation (GARE) to develop the results for the optimal feedback case. The results are found to be completely analogous to the continuous-time ARE based design results.
