Planner support in selecting investments in the power distribution network

The authors give an account of planner support in selecting investments in the power distribution network. A prototype system for selecting investments has been produced for a microcomputer. The main software functions and environment are presented. The prototype was devised for the technical and economic planning of the investments to be made in the next planning period. Knowledge techniques were used for prioritising investments. The next stage will be the development of a project creating links with the corporate planning of the electric utility and the resulting network development goals.
