Telecommunications switching in Poland-present status and future prospects

Problems concerning the present and the future of telecommunications switching in Poland are surveyed. After some remarks about the history of Polish telecommunications, the current and the target switching hierarchy is discussed. Then, the status of local, trunk, and international switches is presented. A separate section is devoted to major manufacturers of switching equipment in Poland. After presenting demand and investment forecasts, recent changes in the regulatory and financial environment as well as international participation in the development of Polish telecommunication networks are discussed.
