Abstract
The paper deals with some new investigations concerning the possibility to improve the EMI performances of the PWM AC-to-DC converters with the help of the hysteresis control. The research takes into account the case of a single-phase boost corrector configuration. Several new modulation strategies are introduced and investigated through mathematical modelling and simulation. The Fourier analysis of the input current and the accurate estimation of the total harmonic distortion allows the selection of the most appropriate method. Due to the application of the dead-beat control associated with hysteresis modulation the high frequency spectrum of the input ac line current of the studied unity power factor rectifier is reduced. As a result the EMI filter design efforts are less and the line-friendly performances of the investigated converter are improved
