Abstract
The paper presents an extensible solution to providing dynamic GIS and LBS services in Web applications. After a brief introduction and an overview of the current state-of-the-art Web mapping software, the paper presents the TUGIS platform, a GIS/LBS platform developed within the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca. By focusing on the Web publishing technologies the presentation concerns on two case studies involving the integration of basic mapping facilities as well as the creation of dynamic Web mapping user interfaces. The paper concludes by highlighting the advantages offered by the TUGIS platform and identifying some future development directions
