  • Abstract
    In this paper a three phase inverter functionality is investigated from a discrete-event point of view. Event driven dynamics of a three phase inverter originates from the inherently switching operation of a three phase transistor bridge and is additionally widened with the inherently event driven logical management functions eg. protection and steering. To describe the inverter from the event driven point of view, a new matrix based approach for the modeling of discrete event systems is applied. It is based on matrix description of Petri nets, supplemented with recursive event recognition and state update laws. Such description enables a systematic insight into the system structure and dynamics. To confirm the proposed approach, simulation and experimental results are presented illustrating speed/current control, protection and steering of inverter with permanent magnet synchronous machine attached
