Abstract :
Due to the belated start of liberalization of Croatian fixed telecom market, new entrants were able to utilize completely new model for building a fixed telecom network. Fixed NGN (Next Generation Network) model has enabled new entrants to the market to provide services in a converged fashion, where all types of services (Voice, Video, Private Data and Internet Access) are provided over a unified IP/MPLS-based network. This network enables operators to provide same services independent of the access technology (FTTx, xDSL, WiMAX, WiFi), utilizing universal voice (Softswitch) platform and universal multiservice control gateways (MSCG), in a fashion resembling recent telecom network models such as IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem).
